PROVINCIAL NEWS.
WAIMAUKU. The annual meeting of the Waimauku branch of the League of Mothers was held in the local hall on Wednesday. Mrs. S. O. English, provincial president, and Mrs. F.- Whyte, provincial secretary, were present. An address on the sanctity of marriage was given by Mrs. English. The election of . officers was as follow: —President, Mrs. T. Charter; vice-presidents, Mesdames C. Jackson and J. B. Copeland; secretary, Mrs. A. Burrell; committee, Mesdames T. Kerr, Taylor, I. Levet, L. Wightman, A. Wintour and S. Walker. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames Lang, J. Dakers and P. Bell. KUMEU. In order to assist the funds of the Kumeu Presbyterian Home Mission a party was given by Mesdames R. P. Dane and G. Cullum at the former's residence, Huapai. The rooms were decorated with bowls of wattle and camellias. During the afternoon elocutionary items were rendered by Mrs. W. Clarke Penman, of Auckland. The competitions were won by Mesdames W. Patterson and R. Cates, Miss Keay being the winner of the consolation prize. Mrs. Cullum received the guests wearing brown marocain, assisted by Mrs. Dane in blue flat crepe, patterned with cherries, and a black velvet coatee. Miss Thora Dane was , dressed in powder blue georgette. Among those present were: Mesdames Wright, Patterson, L* Thackwray, R. Cates, W. Penman, P. Perry, ■ Stallibrase, W. Malins, R. Martin, Misses Ina Harrison, Ellis, Marcroft, Edna Marcroft, Thackwray, Muriel Thackwray, Bews and I Keay. 1
