WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
BROWN'S BAY. ' Mrs. Moller presided at the meeting 1 held in the Cabaret, and also gave a ' demonstration in moccasin making. Members of the institute dramatic circle presented a one-act play entitled "The ' Gifted Lecturer," those taking part in it being Mesdamcs Gerlach Mitchel, Loader, Stone and Miss Boyer. A song by Mrs. Moller and violin soloe by Miss Oberg were given. Mrs. Reavey won the competition. It was decided J to assist the Blind Institute by taking their goods im Bhle. ELLERSLIE. A meeting was held in the Masonic Hall on August 10, when a demonstration wae given by Mrs. Bishop on dresscutting. After the roll-call, on amusing incidents, afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Baxter, Mrs. Tooman, Mrs. T. White and Mrs. Nicholson. The competition on articles in a grocer's shop was won by Mrs. Miller, the prize being contributed by Mr. Greenwood. Mrs. Budin sang. m< OKOIA. The August meeting of the Okoia Women's Institute opened with the institute song. It was decided to alter the day of the monthly meeting to the first Thursday, also to donate £4 to the rest cottage fund. A demon-, stration on pine needle trays was given by Mrs. McLeod, and Mrs. Clare showed how to make electric light.shades. The competition, three buttonholes worked on linen, was won by Mrs. Atherfold, Mrs. Penn scco'nd, and Mrs. Dale third.
