DUKE OF ROTHESAY.
PRINCE'S SCOTTISH TITLES. LONDON, June 22. Tlio Prince of Wales paid his first visit to Rothesay, in the Isle of Bute, from which he derives his premier Scottish title of Duke of Rothesay.Receiving the freedom of the Royal burgh in the ruins of the ancient moated castle, the Prince recalled that no Duke of Rothesay had entered the castle since the days of Robert 111., more than 500 years ago. He said that when he mentioned to the King that he felt he ought to visit the town because he had been the duke for 23 years, the King replied: "I was duke for nine years, so you had better pav a visit for both of us." The Prince visited a club for unemployed, where a man described himself as a poacher. "What kind of poacher?" asked the Prince. "A salmon poacher," replied the man. adding: "if you'll give me a permit to continue I'll send you a salmon." As well as being Duke of Rothesay, the Prince is Earl of Carrfck, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Grand Steward or Seneschal of Scotland; in i the peerage of Scotland, 1395.
