Admiralty to Lend Destroyers

And Flotilla Leader.

(United F.A.—Electric Telegraph— Copyright) (Keceivcd 0.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 20. In addition to the flotilla leader Maekay, the Admiralty is lending Australia the destroyers Stampire, Vendetta, Voyager and "Waterhen. They will toe commissioned on August 1 and will sail on September 7.

The ships of the Australian Navy include the 10,000-ton cruisers Australia ami Canberra, the older cruisers Adelaide (5500 tons), Brisbane (5400 tons), the sea-plane-carrier Albatross, 0000 tons (accommodating nine 'planes), the flotilla leader Anzac, five destroyers, four sloops, a depot ship, and a fleet oiler. Owing to financial stringency the only sea-going ships in full commission are the Australia, Canberra, Albatross, and the destroyer Tattoo. Post-war destroyer flotilla leaders range from 1300 to 1800 tons, with a speed of 34 to 36.5 knots an hour. The V* class destroyers are 1300 to 1325 tons, and 20 knots; W class, 3300-1350 tons, and 37 knots; and the S class, 930 to 1075 tons, of which Australia already has live.
