MELBOURNE, this day

The Deputy-Prime Minister, Mr. J. G. Latham, has submitted to the Premiers of the States a tentative proposal for restricting wheat acreage. The Premier of South Australia, Mr. K. L. Butler, announced definite opposition to any scheme of restricted wheat production.

It is expectcd that Victoria and West Australia also will oppose the schcmc, the Government leaders having previously declared their opposition to restriction.
