R. Golden, this afternoon. Of tho total cargo imported, 20,147 tons were from New Zealand ports outside the province, grain, produce and coal being tho main items. Pacific Island imports totalled 17,985 tons, including over 10,000 tons of manures. Imports from tho United Kingdom amounted to 11,859 tons, and those from America to 11,407. Australian imports totalled 4171 tons and Canadian imports 853 tone. Passengers arriving at Auckland during tho same month totalled 008 and departures numbered 592.
A report by tho harbour master, Captain H. 11. Sergeant, stated that shipping arrivals totalled 395,380 gross tons. As compared with the corresponding month last year the returns for oversea merchant shipping showed an increase of four vessels of 45,155 gross tons. Intercolonial vessels showed a decrease in the gross tonnage of 3120, while large costal vessels showed a decrease of 4002 gross tons. Tho returns for provincial vessels revealed a decrease of 58 vessels, of 10,592 tons gross. The decrease in coastal and provincial vessels, said the harbour master, was largely due to the dislocation of shipping through the seamen's strike in tho early part of the month.
