ORPHANS' CAMP.
NINETY UNDER CANVAS. Ninety children of the Orphan Home, Papatoetoe, have returned from a three weeks' holiday under canvas at Karaka. l ( or the past six years the orphanage authorities have had the use of a (portion of the property of Mr. F. Yates as a camp Site. Mr. Yates' farm is situated ten miles from Papakura, on the Waiuku Road, and stretches down towards tlie upper reaches of the Manukau. The site is a particularly good one for a camp, being well away from the road and handy to the beach. Mr. Yates also kept the campers supplied with an abundance of fresh water, which he carted down to the site every morning. This year the camp was favoured with excellent weather and good tides. During the camp, picnics were organised to adjacent beaches, and the children enjoyed splendid conditions for bathing. The success of the camp was e wol 'k the matron, Miss A. Hooker, and her staff, assisted by a member of the Orphan Home Trust Board. -
