RICH STRIKE.
COROMANDEL GOLD.
PERSEVERANCE REWARDED. RELIEF WORKERS' LUCK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. A rich And of gold is reported from Coromandel. Two relief workers, Messrs. A. S. Boswell and W. S. Sewell, who have been prospecting at the back on the hills near the township in their spare time, discovered 18 months ago the outcrops of two reefs, which gave good indications. After driving 170 feet to one level and 150 to another, they struck two reefs, 10 feet and 8 feet wide, with small leaders functioning. The official assays were: 6oz 4dwt 3gr, and 3oz 4dvvt 3gr, respectively. The perseverance of these lias been remarkable. Working on relief in the day time, they have been driving and wheeling out quartz at night by candle light. They were working some distance from the heavy bush and had cut all the timber. Both men are jubilant at their success. A large number of men is now out prospecting in adjacent areas.
