OBITUARY.

MR. EDWARD BREGMEN.

The death lias occurred at Ngarnawahia of a veteran of the Maori War, Mr. Edward Bregmen, formerly of Rangiriri and Waiufcu. He was born at Russell in 1847, and when quite a boy his parents moved to Waiuku, where he grew up. He afterwards saw active service in the Maori War under the late Major Lusk. In 1867 he married Agnes, younger daughter of the late Francis Hamilton, of Auckland. He is survived by his widow, Ave sons, six daughters, 33 grandchildren, and 20 greatgrandchildren. Of these five sons and one grandson saw active service overseas in the Great War.

MRS. SARAH DEEBLE,

The only remaining member of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Fenton, well-known in earlier business circles of Auckland, died at Northcote in the person of Mrs. Sarah Deeble, widow of the late Mr. Samuel Deeble, of Inglewood, Victoria, Australia, who was interested in mining alfairs. Born in London 93 years ago, Mrs. Deeble went to Australia with her parents when 14 years okl, and the family later came to Auckland in the steamer Hero in 18G9. Iler three brothers set up in business at Auckland, Messrs. William and Charles Fenton as hatters, and Mr. Alfred Fenton as a draper. Prior to her marriage in 1002, Miss Fenton lived at Devonport. . The whole period of her married life was spent in Victoria until the death of her husband 16 vears a"-o, when she returned to Auckland and resided at Kemuera with her sister. Mrs. Emily Finlayson, widow of Mr. Thomas Finlayson. More recently Mrs. Deeble lived with hear nephew at Sbrfhcote.
