"COASTAL" TOURISTS

SEEING NEW ZEALAND

VISITORS FROM ENGLAND,

That there is scope for inducing people from England to visit New Zealand to see some of the Dominion's scenery and beauty spots lias been demonstrated by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company with their liner Tamaroa. Twenty round-trip passengers have had a delightful time during the vessel's run round the coast, u.nd many have taken the opportunity of making trips to various parts of both islands. The latest addition to the company's fleet—the liner Akaroa—is bringing 00 round-trip passengers to New Zealand. On the present voyage the Tamaroa, in addition to the 20 passengers already mentioned, has 20 other passengers, who will leave later to return to England, via Australia. Several of the trippers were in Christchurch a few days ago making arrangements with the Tourist Department to tour portions of the North Island before the Tamaroa finally leaves Wellington for London. Many of them have already visited scenic resorts. All have expressed themselves as being delighted with the trip. One of a small party of six, who are travelling together, said each member would go back to England as a walking advertisement for the Dominion. Shipping companies, other than the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, are making investigations into round-trip tourist traffic. The scheme provides a round-trip from England and back to England at fares ranging from £112 to £132. The passengers have the option of living on hoard ship all the time she is on the New Zealand coast.

The Tourist Department and the Railway Department are working in conjunction with the shipping companies, and are giving passengers every facility to see other parts of the Dominion while the ship is on the coast loading for Home. °
