PAPER PULP MANUFACTURE.

As a step toward the establishment in Tasmania of the paper pulp industry, a company has been registered with a nominal capital of £1,500,000, and a paidup capital of £30,000, to adopt and carry on the concessions, and also the obligations, of the latest agreement made by the State Parliament for the use of timber areas in the Florentine Valley. The Act has been proclaimed, and the company has lodged a bank guarantee of £10,000. By the end of the summer about 100 miles of tracks will have been cut round, one section of the concessions, and the technical adviser to the company has stated his firm conviction that the wood available will support a very large paper pulp industry.
