JANET GAYNOR AGAIN.
Hailed as one of the greatest romantic teams in motion-picture history, Janet Gaynor and' Charles Farrell, will shortly be winning new local laurels with their latest vehicle, "Tess of the Storm Country." which will shortly be released throughout New Zealand. Miss Gaynor enacts the part of an elderly sea-captain's fiery-tempered daughter and Farrell that of a millionaire's son, who first meets her when she saves him from drowning off the Maine coast. In "Tess of the Storm Country" there is a third .star that deserves special mention —the monkey. This is one of the best-trained animals that has appeared on the screen. No one tells it what to do. It takes its comedy part far better than many so-called firstgrade human comedians. In the scene where it imitates Tess, who has just clipped her father's beard, it endeavours to clip the whiskers of a coconut. The climax of animal intelligence is reached iu a scene where the monkey steals the babv's bottle.
Alfred Santell, who made Miss Gaynor's "Daddy Long Legs," directed this new vehicle, and a notable supporting east includes Claude Gillingwuter, June Clyde, George Meeker, Dudley Digges and Dc Witt Jenniß^e.
