ACTRESS SUED.
MARLENE DIETRICH. Paramount Studios Claim Damages. BREACH OP CONTRACT. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 1 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, January 2. A suit for nearly 200,000 dollars for damages Avas filed in the Federal Court here to-day against Marlene Dietrich, the well-known screen artist, by Paramount Studios, charging a breach of contract. The action charges that Marlene Dietrich refused work under the terms of a contract at 4000 dollars per week and asks that defendant be enjoined from working for another producer. Emanuel Cohen, vice-president in charge of the production, explaining the action, alleged that since the completion of her last picture the actress had been paid 4000 dollars weekly on a contract which would expire on February 19. Plane had been made for another picture with production arrangements complete. Miss Dietrich arbitrarily refused to go ahead and requested cancellation of her contrac'; for the few remaining weeks. Mr. Cohen 6aid the costs of the preparation of any picture were one of the greatest items. "
