SPENT ON AVIATION.
Sum of £3,300,000,000 Since 1914. TOTAL FOR ALL NATIONS. (Received 11.30 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, January 2. Professor Maimer states that the leadng nations of the world have spent £3,300,000,000 on aviation since 1914, if which three-quarters has gone to nilitary aviation. The annual expenditure on military aviation is now £166,000,000. Professor Maimer says flying is still lot a commercial proposition. SHORT OF ORDERS. TRENCH FACTORY CLOSES. (Received 11 a.m.) PARIS, January 2. M. Louis Bleriot, the first airman to Hy the English Channel in 1909, has had to close his aeroplane factory owing to lack of orders.
