Plight of Air Passenger Left In Desert. PILOT TO ATTEMPT RESCUE. (Received 1 p.m.) PERTH, this day. Repair* have been effected to the aeroplane which wis piloted by Mr. N. Baker when it was forced down in the_ desei t and had to leave behind one of its two passengers, Mr. P. Whelan. Accompanied by two Air Force aeroplanes, Mr. Baker intends to leave Par rest to-morrow to attempt the rescue •f Mr Whelan, who is isolated on a saiu lake in the Great Victoria Desert • Terrible weather conditions are being experienced on the plains and birds have been driven from the desert to Forrest by the intense heat.
