SCENE DURING SERVICE.
INTERRUPTERS AT CHURCH.
LONDON, December 16.
The spectacle of policemen being asked to take the names and addresses of interrupters of a church service was witnessed at St. Hilary's Church of England, Marazion, Cornwall. A section of the congregation which, objects to the High Church introductions of . the vicar, the Rev. Bernard Falke, interrupted the service by singing a hymn, led by Mr. J. A. Kensit, of the Protestant Truth Society.
The vicar stopped the service and demanded the police to take the names of the interrupters, and an inspector took three names. The Kensit faction demanded that all should be taken. They shouted: "Down with the Pope!" and sang, "The Church's One Foundation."
When Canon Carr entered the pulpit, women screamed, "Get out with those vestments!" The Kerisit faction mobbed the pulpit, making the sermon inaudible, while police • patrolled the aisles. Police asked the interrupters to remain in their seats at the end of the. service, and they took names amid uproar and shouts of "Blasphemy" and "Idolatry."
In August last, the vicar was locked in the vestry while members of the Truth Society removed from the church ornaments, including tabernacles, a figure of the Madonna and child, a crucifix and candles.
