LEATHER PRICE INQUIRY.
The Auckland provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union mct ' last evening'. _ , A report of an investigation into tie price of leather by the Minister of Industries and Commerce stated that soine misconception appeared to exist re | a . r ~J ing the processing of hides into leather. The financial results of tanner showed anything but a favourable po =l t-ion. For certain ciasses of leather prices were received, and at the P r ® s ?? time accumulated quantities were serious concern. It was decided tna steps should be taken to pursue matter further with the Minister. The Prim© Minister advised that pa three of the National Expenditure An* justment Act, 1932, relating to reauetion of rents, applied to rents payaD under leases of native lands. The , secr , tary said that it had been stated in King Country that the clause did no apply to such rents. It was deeiitt that information contained in the Mini ter's letter be sent on to members the committee concerncd.
