GEOGRAPHICAL PUZZLE.

GOOD WORK AND HEAVY ENTRIES.

PAINTING COMPETITION FOR NEXT WEEK.

Dear Boys and Girls, —

Heavy entries were expected for the jumbled names of towns competition, and we were not disappointed with the returns. From the day of announcement entries began to arrive, first in threes and fours, then by tens and twelves, until towards the closing date scores of competitions cane with every mail. A huge pile awaited the judges and for many hours there was silence in the office whilst the competitions weie being corrected.

Geography must be the strong point of most Budget readers, for there was a remarkably small percentage of mistakes; in fact nearly a hundred'boy* and girls succeeded in solving correctly all twenty .of the jumbled towns. There were many one mistakes, and quite a few twos and threes. On the whole, however, the standard of work -was very high. Of course it was quite impossible to award prizes to all who succeeded in correctly solving the puzzle, but in accordance with -the announcement tbe accompanying jokes were taken into consideration and the prizes and certificates of merit awarded accordingly. Christmas is only a few days away now and I suppose that everyone 5» looking forward to the festivities. I am sure that the scene which our:artist has drawn specially for colouring is quite, in tune'with everyone's feelings, and will look splendid when Budgetites have finished painting it. There is a special section '. . /£?*h • ' for the little ones, and so all may have f * an- equal chance of winning a prize. fL-Jr f v For full particulars see the announce- /yA^"^*" ment which appears elsewhere on this • page. . _v '• , •- ..
