AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.
ACTIVITIES IN THE PROVINCE,
Mr. R. B. Hardy, president, was In the chair at last night's largely attended monthly meeting of delegates to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. He stated that there was nothing fresh to. report In connection with the return visit of the United States players in February. A recommendation of the emergency committee that the building of a removable stand (capacity 520) at the Stanley Street courts, and the erection or a suitable fence facing the Domain be proceeded with immediately, was adopted.-/ ■ •The question of a player taking part In the A grade team, and also in the outersuburban competition was discussed, and it was decided to defer consideration until the nest meeting. Mr. Hardy spoke, in complimentary terms of those in charge of the subassoeiatipns, who were performing excellent work for the association. He also stated that Mr. B. W. Griffiths and himself had made a tour of- the following clubs during the week-end :—Kumeu, Waimauku, Woodhill, Helensville, Kaukapakapa, Waikoukou. These, together with Hobsonville, joined together this season and formed the Kalpara sub-association, which , had. affiliated with Auckland. Competition matches were in progress at all courts, and the standard of play was quite high. The large attendances testified to the popularity of the game in the northern districts.
