WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
OMAHA AND PAKIRI. The monthly meeting was held in Leigh Hall, when the annual flower show was a most successful event. A points competition, "something new from something old," also took place, and the stall funds were given to help pay the rent of hall telephone. WAIKINO. The Waikino Women's Institute held a meeting in the Victoria Hall on Thursday, when the president, Mrs. Franklin, presided and gave a talk on the aim of the institutes. A round-table conference was held, which brought forth many helpful suggestions. Mrs. Eyers gave a demonstration in stencilling. The committee were the hostesses for the afternoon.
KOHEKOHE-TE TORO. The Women's Institute held their meeting in Harcombe's Hall on December 15, when Mrs. (ioodrich and Mrs. C. Smith spoke of the Christmas customs in other lands, and Mrs. Harcombe gave a demonstration of icing a Christniae cake. A largo number of Christinas puddings were brought to be forwarded to Sister Esther. Mesdames R. Kenall and H. Westhead were the hostesses. The next meeting is to be held on the third Thursday in February.
