STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB. " Handicaps for the Pakuranga Hunt meeting are due on Monday, and acceptances clo6e at 5 p.m. next Friday, with the secretary oE the Auckland Racing Club, Mr. W. S. Spence. A NICE FILLY. Gipsy Love, the two-year-old half-sister to Beacon Fire, by Hunting Song, is a part ticularly nice filly, and has shown natural e ability to gallop fast, which suggests that she will be prominent in early juvenile • events. Gipsy Love is owned by Mr. C. , Iveeblc, and is trained by H. E. Russell E at Woodville. 1 TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB. The annual meeting of the Takapuna - Jockey Club will be held on Wednesday, August 31. Nominations for three mem- ; beis of the committee in the place of i those retiring, but are eligible for re-elec- , >tion, close with the secretary, Mr. F. 1). l MeVay, at noon next Tuesday. ROYAL ROUTINE RETURNS. 1 The speedy Royal Routine has returned ; to the tracks at Woodville after an : enforced spell, looking well and apparently ; quite sound. The Hunting Song gelding 1 should be a good winner'this season if lie ! has »o recurrence of the soreness which 1 has troubled him in the past. I i I RELATED TO SARGON. Solomon, the two-year-old colt by Chief Killer from Hukapapa, is making good progress under F. Gilchrist's guidance and is one of the most promising juveniles in work at Eilerslie. This colt is a half-1 brother to fjargon and Catkin (both useful performers a tew seasons ago), and he promises to uphold the family reputation. CLAREMORE'S PROGRESS. Clarcinore's tasks are still confined to steady work around the ioads and hills, and J. Lainbess reports that the bay gelding is in the best of health and condition. It is not intended to race Claremorc just yet awhile, but with the class of work he is doing lie should not require much galloping I to fit liim for racing later on in the season. DOING EASY WORK. During Geo. Holland's absence in Christchurch Croupier and Hunting March's tasks are restricted to easy pacing, and both horses are thriving well. Hunting March is a half-brother to Ivarangapai, but is more solid-looking than his relative. This three-year-old has never raced and little is known regarding his galloping ability. A SPEEDY GALLOPER. On several occasions during the past few weeks Hampton Park has recorded some smart gallops over sprint distances, and if he repeals the same speed in public he should show up in early sprint events. This horse raced more solidly than usual towards the end of last season, and the fact that he has wintered well and is in first-rate condition will be a lot in his favour when he commences racing again. HAS NOT BEEN OVERTAXED. j The local hack Moonfleet has liot been overtaxed in his latest track efforts, though no fault can be found with his condition at the present stage. The Silverado gelding showed encouraging form during the latter part of last season and is a hack likely to do much better as a five-year-old during the current term. He has abundance of speed, and the fact that he was always finishing on at the end of his races last seasofi should be worth keeping in mind. He will in future be trained by J. Wallace at To Aroha.

HAS FURNISHED WELL. Since resuming work a few weeks ago Tatyoon has made excellent pr.gress and promises to be ,in first-class order for the spring fixtures. This four-year-old has furnished into a solid-looking horse since he last appeared in public and gives every indication of developing into a good stakewinner before the present season ends. Tatvoon has not done, much racing, but his rfraek work during the early part of last season was distinctly promising for a novice. MAIDEN DISPLAYS PROMISE. Among the maiden candidates in work at headquarters none display more promise ! than Kiltowyn, the three-year-old son of I Kilbroney and Towyn. Though he has never been seriously tested, this novice gives every indication that he possesses speed above the average and a bright future is predicted for him. Kiltowyn is due to have his first race this season in the Sylvia Park Handicap at the Pakuranga meeting, and his running in that event is sure to be keenly noted by racegoers. EXPECTED TO DO BETTER. The entries for the Sylvia Park Handicap, a seven-furlong event to be decided at the Pakuranga meeting, includes several three-year-olds that raced prominently in juvenile events last season. The list comprises Sea Ruler, Bambur.v. Gigantic. Con Fuoco, Merry Lap and Foreign Money, and it will be interesting to note the improvement these gallopers have made since they last appeared in public. The majority of them have already proved themselves capable of winning races in their class, and are confidently expected to show to much further advantage this season. NEW ZEALAND CUP. The conditions for the New Zealand Cup.were approved by the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club this week. The stake will be lOOOsovs (including a cup), so that the price will be the same as' last year. On this occasion, the value of ,the trophy will be 75sovs, whereas it was SOsovs last year. In view of the general reduction of racing stakes, the penalty conditions have been varied. The winner, after declaration of weights, of any race of the value of 200sovs (previously 300 sovs) to the winner, or of any race or races of the value of 400sovs (previously 500sovs) to the winner, may be rehandicapped, provided that no horse be rehandicapped to carry over weijrht-for-age. Nominations will close on Friday, August 26.
