TOO COLD TO WORK.
THIRTY MEN LEAVE CAMP. REQUEST TO BE RE-ENGAGED. ALL BUT FOUR TAKEN BACK. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) ROTORUA, this day. Owing to the intense cold on the Kaingaroa Plains, 32 men at tlio single relief workers' forestry camp, 80 miles from Rotorua, returned to the camp during Thursday morning, and said they were unable to work. At mid-day they were given an opportunity to return to work, but refused, and were discharged. The men reached Rotorua in a body yesterday afternoon, and were paid off. In the evening they held a meeting, and decided to ask to be re-engaged in a body, tho conservator of forestry, Mr. E. M. Morrison, met delegates from the men this morning, with the result that all of the men, with the exception of four, wero re-engaged. They will return to camp in lorries this afternoon. Tho conservator refused to take four of the men back, as he considered that of the men back, as he considered they were responsible for the agitation which caused the men to leave ca.mp.
