FERRY SERVICE.

NORTHCOTE AND BIRKENHEAD

RETURN TO 1925 TIME-TABLE.

"This seems to be a backward step. It looks like an attempt to cut off the 20-minute service," said Mr. A. Facer, at a meeting of the Northcote Borough Council last evening. The Dcvonport Ferry Company intimated that, owing to a large decrease in the number of passengere in the Northcote *and Birkenhead service, it was proposed to return to the time-table of 1925. Representatives of the council were asked to meet the company to discuss the matter. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin: I telephoned the company asking for the 1920 time-table, and was informed that one was not available. "It looks as though they were aiming at a curtailment of the service,' said Mr. P. C Cross. Messrs. T. Joll, P. C. Cross and the Mayor were appointed to meet the company next Thursday morning.
