INFANCY PAST.

AUCKLAND CREDITMEN'S CLUB

GOOD AVERAGE ATTENDANCE.

REPORT OF YEAR'S WORK,

"The past year ha.« been one of stress and strain for everybody, and the membership of the club lias felt, with others, the effect of the prevailing depression," stated the third annual report of the Auckland Creditmen's Club, which was presented to-day at the annual meeting. "Our audiences have undoubtedly been depleted by the inability of some of our members, through .the restriction of stall and other causes, to give the requisite time to spend even the routine hour witli us," it continued. The club had now passed through its infancy, and had attained a position of conic importance in the community. Ihe addresses had been of a high order, and there had been an average attendance at luncheons of 82, with the highest at 140. The report suggested that wink' a popular (speaker o;i a good subject could command a large audience, attendance should not depend on that so greatly as on the responsibilities of membership, which included attendance. The membership of the club baa declined slightly, from 150 last year to 135 this year/ That was attributable to the inability of members to be present at the meetings. The treasurer informed the meeting that the financial position of the club was sound, there being a credit balance of £04. A tribute wae paid in the report to the retiring chairman, Mr. \V. J. Holdsworth, "for his enthusiasm, energy and "ood fellowship in the oflice, which he has so admirably filled for the past three years." The work of the committees had been faithfully carried out, and thanks was due to the various chairmen. Officers elected for the year were: — President, Mr. C. J. Tunks; vice-presi-dents Messrs. J. A. C. Allum, F. G. Baskett, F. C. Brookbanks, W. H. Cocker; han. secretary, Mr. Hugh W. Dent; hon. treasurer and hon. assistant eecretary, Mr. H. W. Bullock; hon. solicitor, Mr. C. J. Tunks; hon. auditor, Mr. H. C. Robinson; executive Messrs. R. S. ■Vbel D A. Taylor, H. T. Thomas, G. E. Waddirigham, A. W. Wattcrs and W. Walker.
