Considerable Damage Done in

FARMING DISTRICTS SUFFER,

SYDNEY, this day
Fierce westerly gales, which were experienced over a wide area covering Tasmania, Victoria and the coastal highland areas of New South Wales, caused considerable damage at a number of places. On the South Coast dozens of houses and garages were unroofed and plate glass windows "blown in. Terrific gusts blew down a wall of the Primary Distributing Society's store and destroyed the aerial masts at Wollongong of the broadcasting station. 2WL. In the wake of the raging wind there is wreckage of every description.
Particularly extensive damage was done in farming districts. Hundreds of fences and miscellaneous articles are scattered widely. A man was blown from a ladder and injured. In a special warning to shipping the Weather Bureau forecasts strong gales with rough seas over the Tasman Sea.
