LOW BUTTER PRICES.

HAMILTON FARMER'S FAILURE

PENNIES MADE DIFFERENCE

BANKI? UPTCY DISCHAKG B

GRANTED.

The fall in the price of butterfat was said to have been the main cause of the bankruptcy of Max Jonas Friedlander, farmer, of Hamilton, who applied for his discharge in the Supreme- Court to-day. Counsel for the applicant said that out of the £1100 deficiency a sum of £200 odd represented interest and bank charges, and other items were £07 for stamp duty in connection with the property and £.">0 medical expellees. "Practically the whole of the remainder is the cost of fertilisers and outlay in connection with the farm," said counsel. "I think it may safely be said that if butterfat had maintained its price at anything over a shilling, Friedlander would have been able to nay his way. As it was, every fall of Id made a difference to him of £2oO."

The Official Assignee at Hamilton, Mr. V. K. Crowhurst, said lie had gone fully into the case and offered no objection to Priedlander's discharge.

A discharge was also granted tf» Lester Sinclair, theatre ' manager, of Whnngarei. Replying to a question by Mr. Justice Herclinan, counsel for applicant said Sinclair had received certain moneys in connection witli the concern in which he was interested, but it had been satisfactorily accounted for. His main fault was that of carrying on too long. The Official Assignee (Mr. A. W. Watters) offered no objection to the discharge. Adjudications. Adjudications as bankrupt were made against C. 11. Ingley. farmer, of Manureiva, and T. O. Vincent, builder, of Henderson. Summonses for the adjudication of Arthur John Lloyd, sen., fiawniiller, of Opotiki; Alfred W. Bryant, contractor, of Shelly Beach Road, Ponsonby; and C. S. Lees, builder, of Tennyson Street, Birkcnhead, were adjourned.
