GALATEA CLEARING SALE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, Monday. The largest clearing sale ever held in the Bay of Plenty was held at the Galatea Station to-day when Mr. E. Troutbeck disposed of implements, horses and 25,000 sheep. Buyers from Hawke's Bay, Auckland, North Auckland and Bay of Plenty attended, numbering about 400. Bidding was very brisk and market values were well maintained. Dalgety and Company, Limited, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, and Hoadley and Stewart acted conjointly as auctioneers. Prices were:—Horses: Draught mares, aged, £8 to £18; geldings, £12 10/. Roroney sheep: Fat forward wethers, 7/11: 2-tooth -wethers, 3/6 to 7/4; 5-year ewes, 3/7 to 5/10; 4-year ewes, 5/7 to II; 6-tooth ewes, 8/ to 10/1; 4-tooth ewes, 7/11 to 8/6; maiden 4-tooth ewes, 10/4; 2-tooth ewes, 7/10 to 10/1; shorn ewe lambs, 4/6; ewe lambs, 2/7; wether lambs, 2/1 to 3/2; mixed aged ewes, 4/; mixed sex lambs, 3/9; aged rams, 2/6 to 9/. A dispersal sale of 2000 cattle from the station will be held at Whakatane on the completion of the To Teko-Galatea Road. TUAKAU SHEEP FAIR. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TUAKAU, Monday. A record number of sheep was yarded at the first sheep fair of the season held at Tuakau to-day iby Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons. Last year 20,000 were penned, and this year 23,000 were offered. Prices were much better than were anticipated. Bidding was keen at times. A line of several hundred maiden four-tooth ewes realised the top price in the ewe section, 12/9, while the 'best Southdown rams sold from <S¥z to 4%gs. Quotations are:— Ewes.—Best two-tooth, 8/ to 10/; others, 6/ to 7/9; maiden four-tooth, 12/9; others, 9/9 to 11/; poorer quality, 7/ to 9/6; best four and five-year-old, 8/6 to 11/; others, 6/6 to 7/9; aged, 4/ to 5/6; poor and inferior, 1/6 to 3/9. Wethers.—Best two-tooth, 7/6 to 8/9; others, 4/ to 6/9. Lambs.—Forward rape lambs, 7/ to 8/6; best stores, 5/ to 6/9; cull, 2/6 to 5/6. Rams.—Best Southdown, 3% to 4Msgs; others, 2% to 3%gs; best Roraneys, 2 to 3gs; others, V 2 to l%gs; English Leicester, 2% to 3gs.
