ARISUS MOVES ATTRACTIVELY.

The tracks were busy at Trentham this , morning, and several of the candidates for to-morrow's racing were galloped fast. The plough and the course proper, which were both in fast order, were in use, and the work, unless otherwise mentioned, was on the plough. . Red Sun finished nearly a length in front of Normandy at the end of six furlongs in 1.16, the last half-mile taking 51 2-ss. Weatherstep had opened a break of six lengths on Moab Queen before the close of their five furlongs in 1.3 l-o, the last half-mile occupying 49 4-ss. On the course proper Tea Stream ran half a mile nicely in 48 4-ss. Over the same course Michael Angelo, after a slow beginning, registered 50s. Prince Pombal and Volga Boatman followed, the former coming home in front in the excellent time ot 47 4-ss. Lady Pam and Spear Lad finished their work with a half-mile spiint which occupied 49 4-ss. .!• oghom beat Capetown by half a length over six furlongs in 1.16 3-5, the laist half-mile in 51s. Ivilstar was doing best to lead Marjoram home by two lengths at the end of five furlongs in 1.5, the last half-mile in 51 4-ss. Arisus sprinted half a mile in 50 l-ss, and stretched out attractively. Princess Argosy beat her stablemate, Royal Limond, nicely by a neck at the end of half a mile in 49 3-55.. Might surprised by finishing two lengths in front of Clangor at the end of three furlongs in 365. Mentor, was much too good for Colossical over the same journey in 375. Cadland Looking Well. Cadland, Arena, Silvermine, Arvada and Gaine Carrington did pace work only, but all look well. Banbridge was slightly ahead of Pedestal at the end of six furlongs m 1.17. Both were extended. Clirysology sprinted an easy five furlongs, taking .1.5 3-5. Esteem, on the course propev, went a similar distance in 1.5 3-5, but was at top only in the straight. Eminent beat Lyrical by a length at the end of five furlongs in 1.4. Oratoria.n and Lavington ran six furlongs together in 1.17. Peter Jackson impressed by the way he beat Admiral Drake at the end of seven furlongs in 1.28 4-5, the tliree-year-old drawing cut and having a length's advantage at the finish. They carried similar weights. The last lialf-mile took 51 4-ss. Royal Saxon and Nea Lap, working on the course proper, ran a mile together in 1.42, the last half-mile taking 53 2-ss, but they were tiring at the finish. Mataa showed that she possesses speed by reeling oft three furlongs in 35 4-ss. La Moderne came down the straight half-mile in great style, but was not timed. Down the straight five furlongs Copper King required 1.8, but he was under a pull throughout. Niggerhead was going easily in front of Araios at the end of five furlongs in 1.3 4-5, the last half-mile in 50 3-ss. Cluny ran a mile in 1.44, doing the last seven furlongs in 1.29 1-5. and the final halfmile in 52 l-ss. Gold Sand sprinted five furlongs, being timed to run the last halfmile in 495. Could Have Done Better. High Comedy ran an easy half-mile, taking 50 l-ss, but lie was never doing his best. Palm shaded Alpinist at the end of six furlongs in 1.16 1-5, the last halfmile in 50s. Late Jest beat Cockpen by a length over half a mile in 50s. St. Roger caught and beat Waratah home narrowly at the close of five furlongs in 1.3 1-5. the last half-mile taking 50 2-ss. Equitant and Interlocutor recorded a smart effort in reeling off half a mile in 48 2-s«s. Gesture easily ran six furlongs alone in 1.20. On the course proper Chief Cook, Chief Clerk and In Vain were separated by lengths at the end of five furlongs in 1.2, the last half-mile taking 49 2-ss. Chief Cook went particularly well. Moa Bird did an easy seven furlongs, occupying 1.32 4-5. Heremia was held back to finish on terms with Ganpat at the close of five furlongs in 1.3, the last half-mile taking 50s. Dainty Ways and Joie de Val were together throughout seven furlongs in 1.29 4-5, the last halfmile taking 52 4-ss. All Humbug did the last half of five furlongs in 51 l-ss. Gay Court pulled up slightly lame after doing half a mile in 52 3-ss. Autopay and Solitaire 11., from a standing start, ran half a mile np the back in 49 4-ss, and did it .exceptionally well. Retract worked better than usual while running six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. The only scratching yet announced is Jenny Diver in the Ruapehu Handicap. Rippling Waters and Bambury have been withdrawn from the Wellington Stakes.
