TRAFFIC CONTROL.
In these days when "Economy" and ''Buy New Zealand Goods" appear to be the watchwords or catchwords of our City Fathers and of our Legislature, it is. rather difficult fof an ordinary individual to know under whic\i heading to place our latest experiment s\i traffic control. Is the cost of the automatic apparatus to he paid out of the money saved by the operation of the ten per cent "cut"? Possibly also a certain number of traffic inspectors could be dispensed with and perhaps a job ,on relief work found for them. This, one supposes, 'brings it under the heading of "Economy." Well, considering that our traffic inspectors arc an efficient body o't men, it seems to an ordinary individual thai if they need any assistance in the performance of their duties the 'better way at the present time of depression would surely be t<"> engage a few. more New Zealanders instead o:' American automatic devices.
