"SLIPPERY SAM" AGAIN?
FRIDAY NIGHT RAIDS
TWO HOUSES VISITED; £7 STOLEN,
Two raids by a house-thief, thought to be the blond burglar known as "Slippery Sam," were made on Friday night or early on Saturday morning, one in Disraeli Street and the other in Balmoral Road. One was successful.
The usual practice was followed. Trousers were taken from the bedroom while the owner and his wife were asleep, and between £7 and £8 were stolen. The thief took the trousers into the kitchen, and after removing the money carefully refolded the trousers and placed the braces neatly over the top. He then placed thejnotor car keys which were in the wallet-on top of the trousers.
To make certain of a quick escape, the thief left the front door wide open. Whether he entered through a bedroom window or used a master key on the front door is not known.
