SACRED HEART SPORTS

CYEIL BROWNLTE'S FEAT ECLIPSED. Four records were broken at the Sacred Heart College sports, which were held at the college on Saturday in brilliant weather. There was a large attendance, and keenly-contested events held interest to the end.

Among the visitors were many of the old boye who took the keenest interest in the athletes of to-day.

In the broad jump, ]?. Hackett cleared 20ft, breaking the college record established by P. McQullkin of 19ft 6in in 1917. Hackett was in brilliant form. With a jump of sft 7in he also broke the high jump record of Cyril Brownlie, the well-known Hawke's Bay and All Black footballer, of Jsft 4in put up in 1910. New records were established in the senior mile and half-mile.

In the half-mile E. Hall won in 2.12 4-5, breaking the record of L. Myles of 2.14 put up in 1929. Hall also put up a new record for the senior mile, breaking the record of R. Keenan of 5.5, recorded in 1924.

The.track was very fast and all in favour of faet times.

LYNNDALE SPORTS

The Lynndale Amateur Athletic and Cycle Clu'b held a mectiug at its grounds at New Lynn on Saturday. The line weather prevailing attracted a good attendance. The proceeds are in aid of urgent distress cases in the district, and the funds of the committee should be considerably swelled as a result. The children wore well catered for, a scramble for sweets being very popular. The St. Andrew's Pipe Band provided plenty of amusement for all. A collection resulted in nearly £10 being given, and to (his about £2 for entrance fees must be added. Results: — ' 100 Yards Primary Schools. —E. Young 1, 11. Parkes 2, H.
