OBITUARY.
MR. S. C. LLOYD.
A resident of New Zealand for 56 years, Mr. Samuel Crook Lloyd died at Silverdale on August 1, at the age of 93 years. Hβ was born at Carmarthen, Wales, and arrived at Invercargill by the ship Adamant in 1875. He was farming for a time, and then went to the diggings at Bluespur, Otago. Mr. Lloyd moved to Dennison in 1888, and for the next 17 years was employed by the Westport Coal Company. In 1905 he came to Silverdale, and started fruit growing, but later took up dairy farming. Mr. Lloyd enjoyed excellent health up to the timo of his death. The following children survive:—Mr. W. Lloyd, headmaster of the Parnell school; Mr. D. Lloyd, of Auckland; and Mr. H. Lloyd, of Dargaville. The daughters are Mrs. J. W. R. Fischer, of Takapuna; Mrs. F. Bartholomew, of Silverdale; Mrs. Bernard, of Dennison; and Mrs. R. Stephens, of Melbourne.
MR. RICHARD THORNTON
The death took place at Thames on July 31, at the age of 68 years, of Mr. Richard Thornton, owner of Thornton's Bay, a popular seaside resort. Mr. Thornton was born in London, and came to New Zealand 45 years ago, eettling in Wellington, where he was engaged in the dairy business. He came to the Thames 35 years ago, ana purchased Thornton's Bay, where he planted a large orchard. Some years ag-> Mr. and Mrs. Thornton retired from business. Hie wife predeceased him a few yeare ago. Ho is rurvived by one married son.
MRS. SARAH McDOUGALL.
A resident of Auckland for the past 38 years, Mrs. Sarah McDougall, died wWt £ at the home of her-eon, Dr. Neil McDougall, Khyber Pase. Born m Scotland 76 years ago, Mrs. Mc?(l Uga l 1 ; ith h€r husb and, the late Mr. ;S? fr&k came t0 Auckland in 1893. Mr. McDougall was for many }no? a teaclier <? f m "sie. He died in 1024. There are five sons, Dr. Neil MeDougall, and Messrs. Jack, Charles, Alfred and James McDougall, all resident m this city.
