REPAIRS TO BRIDGE.

ROAD , TEMPORARILY CLOSED. Temporary repairs are being effected by City Council workmen to the wooden bridge which spans Cox's Creek .011 the undedieated road at the foot of Regina Street, and gives, residents., of the Grey Lyrin district access to. the waterfront. The abutments of the bridge gave way last week, and . this caused the piles supporting the structure to move. While ■strengthening operations are being carried out. the road is closed to vehicular traffic, and a short detour is necessary. " - . „ The bridge was erected about three .years ago to replace an - old structure which had done service since the days when Cashmore's sawmill was located near 'the mouth- of Cox's Creek. The road which it spans is commonly known as,-Sawdust Road, is little more than a causeway dividing a ? mud flat, which is .popularly -used as a hauling up place for yachts and other small craft. It has been suggested to the City Council that the mud flat should be "filled '-• in and transformed into' < a playing' area • for the Grey . Lynn district, but no schcme has been decided on definitely swing to the cost involved.
