URGENT QUESTIONS. OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. SUBSIDIES TO HOSPITAL BOARDS. EVICTION OF TENANTS. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. As was expected, there was a crop of urgent questions in the - House of Representatives this afternoon relating to unemployment. These included one from Mr. W. E. Tarry (Laboury Auckland Central), who asked the Minister of Finance, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes!, if he would make provision for further subsidies to hospital boards for some payment on account of rent in necessitous cases in order to avoid acute hardship in cases of destitute families wno were being turned into the Streets during the present winter weather without any prospect'of being able to find shelter; Mr. Parry said the position in A.ucky land had become acute, and the, hardship experienced bv sufferers' was stirring deepest feeling. Grave commotion might result on the enforcement, of .the present law, which enables a landlord to eject a tenant without an order of the Court. , . • Mr. W. J. Jordan (Labour, Ma'niikauV asked the Prime Minister ' if he would extend the operation of the Local Authorities Relief of Unemployment Act, which expires on Tuesday next. The continuance of No. 5 scheme, he said, depended upon the extension of (hat legislation,- as otherwise local bodies might have to take-polls before raising funds ior. equipment and material. . :
