DARING BURGLAR.

IN MT. EDEN HOUSE.

OCCITFAtfTS SLEEPING.

THOROUGH SEARCH MADE

Making a thorough search of a house in Fairview Road, Mount Eden, on Monday evening, a thief, working quietly, stole two sums of money totalling £11 10/ from a bedroom without waking the sleeping occupants. • The doors were not locked, and the intruder had no difficulty in gaining entrance. From an envelope in a suitcase in one bedroom he extracted £9 10/, which had been collected for a presentation. The empty envelope and a slip of paper were left in the suitcase. From another room he stole a handbag, which contained £2.

Similar thefts have been committed in the Mount Eden and Epsom districts during the past feAv weeks, and it is believed that the one thief is responsible for all. From what is known, he never attempts to enter houses where doors and windows are locked.

TWO THEFTS I/AST NIGHT.

Early last night two dwellings, one in Remuera Road and one in Mountain Road, were entered while the occupiers were absent. The thief forced the lock of a side door and stole three rings from the Mountain Road house, while £3 in money was stolen from the other hou*e.
