DIVORCES DECLINE.
EFFECT OF WAR MARRIAGES. LONDON, May 14. The suggestion is that the effect of hasty war marriages lias reached the peak, says the "Daily Mail," in publishing iigures showing that the thlo of divorce is definitely declining. Since January 1 only 000 marriages have been dissolved in England and Wales, compared with 1340 in the corresponding period last year. If this decrease is maintained it is authoritatively estimated that the number of divorces in 1931 will be, roughly, 2400, compared with 3003 last year. Before 191S divorces never exceeded 1000 a year. After tb&t year there was a rapid rise until 1921, when there were 3458. The record year was 1928, with 3927. There has since been a definite decline.
