the te kuiti meeting.

CABD FOR TO-MOfLROW. recent form reviewed. The annual meeting' of tlic le Ivuiti Racing Club will be held at Te Awamutu to-morrow and excellent fields are carded jn all events; in fact, the acceptors in tlie Te Kumi Hack Handicap are so numerous that the event has liad to be divided, and the divisions will be treated as separate events, the totalisator being open on each of them. The Kopaki Hurdles. Eighteen are accepted for in the Kopaki Hurdles. Make Up has raced well recently and his effort when he finished third in the Century Hurdle Race" the last time he was saddled up will ensure him plenty of friends. Antrim }3ov won the Kildare Hurdles, one mile «md three-quarters, and the Peerswick Hurdles, once round and a distance (about a mile and a half and 240 yards), •it the Easter meeting at Riccarton, and if produced, in the same order should go well. Glenstar won the Grafton Hurdle Kace, two miles, at the Auckland summer meeting and recently showed lie was pretty well by finishing second to Haver.iiig at Te Rapa. Luminary may not start. RHi Pitch has "been consistent recently, winning at his "fast two starts; while "Mountain Heath, who lias only had two races over hurdles, was second at the first attempt and won at Wangamii last week. Pouri was second to High Pitch at Pukekohe recently. Apache has proved himself a good hurdler and is thought to have a great chance in the Great Northern Hurdles by Southland sportsmen, so that if that is the case he should go well to-morrow. He recently won on the flat over a mile. Singleton has previously shown promise, while Desert Glow is said to. be a capable jumper, though he has not raced over "the sticks" vet. Hakaroa showed verv promising form when he ran second to High Pitch at Waikato recently. Marble King and Tenakoe look the best of the others. The latter has not - yet 1 raced over hurdles, but is said to be jumping splendidly. The principal selections may he

-M r- MAKE UP HIGH PITCH ; ; APACHE. The Awakino Hack Handicap. Te Hoia is at the head of those carded for the Awakino Hack Handicap. Earlier in the season he raced well, finishing third in the Champion Hack Plate, seven furlongs, at Avondale, and occupying a Bimilar position in the New Lynn Handicap, one mile, at the same meeting. He was also third in the Waikato Hack Cup, one mile, and won the Orakau Handicap, $even furlongs, at Te Awamutu last December. He has not raced much since then, but if at his best will take some heating. Steady Fire was second to Royal Survey in the Linley Hack, one jnile, at the Waikato meeting. Valmarie won over seven furlongs at the Takapuna summer meeting, after running second to Rafflight over seven furlongs on the previous day. She was also second to Lady Pam in the Great Northern Oaks. She ias not started since. First Lap won over nine furlongs' at the Franklin meeting, while Landmark has raced well at Nelson and West Coast meetings, while he was third in a hurdle race at Wanganui last week. King Peg finished second to Rangikaha at Pukekohe and should again go well. Those who may carry Jnoii money are ' . -' TE HOIA ' VALMARIE. FIRST LAP

The President's Handicap. Black Duke has 9.10 in the President's Handicap, and on recent form lie is not vy any means out of it. He Avon at arton and annexed the Connolly Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Wanganui last Saturday with 9.8. Havering has shown good form up to a mile, but he jDaa; Jret to show his ability over a longer However, lie has been galloping Avell at Takanini. Antique has raced ten furlongs this season, and in lus last effort Avas just beaten by •Uanawhenua at Pukekohe. He will have some support. Eager Rose finished fourth )n that event. Sir Mond won the Presi--03 P' one mile and a quarter, I jj® -Auckland autumn meeting, but Pas been beaten on four occasions since ■ en v. Awarere has yet to be tried over he distance. Grand Tea Avas placed in Two mile and a quarter races at Whangarecently. Mervette has previously raced well on this course and was third P e Storey Memorial, one mile and a quarter, at the last Waikato meeting, one lias been going along Avell in her ork at Te Rapa and should be in the picture. Flying Prince ran a good second 0 ™. awa y in the Te Rapa Handicap, He. nule, at the same fixture, and the . onditions to-morroAv will be in his ,a\our. Most money maA r come for

tiincc. Master Lu won two steeplechases at the last Great Northern meeting and also annexed the Te Awamutu Steeplecliase on this course a little later. He also won the Auckland Hurdle Race, two miles, at the Auckland summer meeting. He was raced in the Brighton Hurdles at Ellerslie at Easter, but failed to show up. However, he would only need to be Hearing the same form as he was in last season to have a good chance. Paris won a steeplechase at Riverton at Easter, while Slump was successful in the Mangere Steeplechase at Ellerslie at Easter. St. Warrigal has shown good form over steeples during the last year, while Copey was second in the Egmont Steeplechase and third ,in the Grandstand Steeplechase at Wanganui during the last fortnight. Spalpiko and Lupin' Abbey may appeal most of the others. Investors may probably go for PRINCE LU

OMEO MASTER LU. The Second Division. The second division of the Te Kumi Hack Handicap will be the sixth race. Crimestor showed up at the Waikato meeting and also at Marton and Egmont. and lie should be improved as the result, of his recent racing. King Ford has brilliant pace and, properly ridden, he should take some beating. Rrillant Lady showed promise by winning at her first attempt in the spring, but since then has failed to show any form, although she is galloping well at Cambridge. Hiata failed repeatedly since he won at Thames. Te Ngeru had her first race for over eighteen months when she contested the Te Rore Handicap in April, in which she failed to begin well and was not sighted. Two seasons ago this mare dead-heated with Indolent in the Trial Stakes, six furlongs,.at Te Rapa, and ran second to Hakanoa in a seven-furlong race at the 1 same meeting. Rose Lupin ran second to Chief Joy and Good Idea at Te Aroha and is very speedy. Production and Rekaraurau (who ran a good race at Franklin after getting away badly) seem the most likely of the remainder. The final figures may show the favourites to be

KING FORD CRIMESTOR ROSE LUPIN. The High-weight Handicap. Paddon lias not raced for some time, but 011 a previous occasion ,after a lengthy spell he won at his first start at Waikato. If approaching his best he should run well. Trishna won over a mile at the Waikato meeting last month and was just beaten by First Lap in the Puni Hack at Franklin. Standfast ran a good race in the Paerata Handicap at Franklin, which was his first effort for some time, and should be greatly improved. Valroe has not raced for some time, while Prince of Orange had a race at Waikato, which Avas his first outing for some months. Ruffles deadheated with Yolimond for third place behind Chief Joy and Vandyke at the Franklin meeting and should again go well.. Tetrarcliate appears to be the best of the lighter-weighted division. A preference may be shown for STANDFAST RUFFLES TRISHNA.

The Concluding Event. The clay's sport will conclude with the Stewards' Handicap. Volimond deadheated for third place in the Paerata Handicap at Franklin and is reported to have gone on the right way since then. Vandyke Avon two races at Whangarei and was second to Chief Joy at Franklin. The latter is also engaged but will not make the trip. Kozan has been racing consistently in the South, for in twelve starts this seasan he has won seven" and been second on four other occasions. If he strikes the track to his liking he should be hard to beat. Prince Val and Royal Ruler may have most friends of the others engaged. Recent form points to KOZAN VANDYKE VOLIMOND..
