They are leaving by the Kemuera on Saturday on a visit"to England. * -* * * The Queen's Scholarship in Malaya for the first time has been won by a i»irl Miss Maggie Tan, daughter of a Chinese business man in Singapore. "The QueenV is one of the most valuable scholarships in the world, carrying with it £500 a year for a four years' English University course either at Oxford or Cambridge. Miss Tan was educated at Ealffs Girls' School, Singapore. * -x- -» Harvard University has refused a gift of 25,000d01s by the will of the late Albert E. Pillsbury, former AttorneyGeneral of Massachusetts, because the gift has the condition that its use must he to deveop sound public opinion and action against women going out of their homes to engage in politics, government or business. Harvard, like other universities serving the needs and best interests of those who must lead humanity forward in the coming generation, does not promote the prejudices of the donors of gifts'. It grinds no personal axes. * » * * Echoes of the tragedy at Ekaterinburg, Russia, where the deposed Czar Nicholas 11. and his entire family are supposed to have been killed by the Soviets, continue to reverberate. Extinction of the reigning Romanoffs left two sisters of Nicholas, the Grand Duchesses Xenia and Olga, and a nephew, George Brasolf, since deceased, as the only heirs to the treasures of the Czar. > These- treasures, consisting of rare furniture, silver, glass, paintings and jewels, were appropriated by the Soviet, who sold them to a German firm, wliicli now seeks to auction off a part of them in the United States. The Grand Duchesses seek an injunction to halt the sale on the plea the treasures belong to them.
