SOCCER REP. MATCH.

WELLINGTON V. AUCKLAND. DOMINION PREMIERSHIP AT STAKE. NAVY GAME FOR JUNE 3. The first Soccer inter-provincial representative match of the season will be between Auckland and Wellington, on Blandford Park, on June 13, for the premiership of the Dominion, the F.A. trophy, held by 'Auckland since its inauguration six years ago. The final negotiations -were reported at the meeting of the local control board last night, Dr. Neil McDougall presiding. At the same time a letter was read from slr. J. Corbett, accepting the appointment of sole selector for the association. It was agreed that Mr. Corbett's suggestion for the use of Blandford Park by the rep. teams be acceded to, as it is the selector's intention to get his team into strict training immediately. Mr. Xeil McArthur, a former Wellington rep. player, was welcomed as a new member of the control board. In compliance with a request from the Naval Squadron, it was agreed to play a rep. match Navy v. Auckland, on Blandford Park on June 3, and the selector was authorised to prepare the strongest team for the occasion. A minor division game will be played as a cur-tain-raiser. Serious Shortage of Referees. Mr. J. Ball, Referees' Association representative on the control board, reported that the work of the association was being seriously hampered by a shortage of available referees. He explained that the active membership had dwindled from 60 to 30, and in order to carry out the programmes week after week some members had to take two and three games each Saturday. The board, recognising the seriousness of the position, agreed to issue a strong appeal to former players and supporters of the game to give their services so that the code could be carried on.

Fixtures for Saturday week were arranged as follows:—Ponsonby v. Y.M.C.A., Blandford Park, 3 p.m.; Thistle v. New Lynn, 1.30 p.m; Tramurewa v. Celtic, Walker Park; Shore v. Onehunga, Devonport.
