OTAHUHU BANQUET.
RECEPTION OF NEW COUNCIL
In the' Otahuhu Borough Council Chambers on Monday, the Mayor, Mr. H. T. Clements, and the Mayoress gave a banquet to welcome and introduce the new councillors. Among the guests were the three past mayors, Messrs. J. Atkinson, A. MaeDonald, and II." B. Todd. In his welcome to the guests the Mayor volerred to the fine services which these gentlemen had rendered to the borough.
After supper a lengthy toast list and programme of entertainment was carried through. The toast "New Councillors was proposed by Mr. J. Hunter, Messrs. J. V. Lawes, 13. J. Parsons, and 0. L. Morgan responding.. Other toasts honoured -were: "Retiring Councillors, by Mr. r. W. Grey, reply by Mr. R. H. Link horn; "Past Mayors," by his Worship the Mayor, Messrs. Atkinson, Mac Donald, and Todd replying; "The Ladies-,' by Mr. «. • Trenwith, the Mayoress, Mrs. H. 1. Oit.mevits, responding; " The Press, bydeputy Mayor J. Graham, Messrs. Venables and Deas in reply. Orchestral selections were rendered by i\[r Dennison's orchestra; solos were contributed bv Miss Jean Hunter and Messrs. H. Hunter, G. W. Venables, and J. Uatt; and violin selections by Miss Arlington. The Mayoress received in a frock of black georgette with shoulder posy. Among those present were: Mrs. J. Gtah-iui, Mrs. J. Hunter, Miss Lawes, Mrs. F W. Grey, Mrs. J.-Trenwith, Mrs. J. H. Webb, Mrs. B. J. Parsons, Mrs. C. E. Morgan, Mrs. R. W. F. Wood, Miss Atkinson, Mrs. R. B. Todd, Mrs. R. H. Linkhorn, Mrs. G. W. Venables, Mrs J. M. Deas, Mrs. J. Craft. Mrs. J. Dennison. Mrs. Ayers, Mrs J. Andrew, Mrs. and Miss Arlington, Miss J. Clements, and Miss Jean Hunter. Thanks were returned to the Mayor and Mayoress on liehalf of the guests by Mr. R. B. Todd.
