LONDON SEASON.
Brilliant Round of Social Events. TWO COURTS IN MAY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 1. Although the grand opera season began on Monday, and throughout the week has been attracting fashionable audiences to Covent Garden, the event which is generally regarded as the opening of the London social season will take place to-day, when the private view of the Royal Academy's summer exhibition takes place at Burlington House. In spite of the industrial depression all indications point to a brilliant round of social events during the season, of which the outstanding functions in May are the first two Courts to be held by Their Majesties at Buckingham Palace, on May 19 and 20. The Chelsea flower show and the Royal Military Tournament will as usual also be helfl. in May. The principal outdoor events of the season, however, take place in June, including, among many others, the Derby and Ascot raccs, the trooping of the colours, the military tatoo, the international horse show, the lawn tennis championships at Wimbledon, the Royal Air Force pageant, and the Test cricket between England .and the New Zealand which arrived yesterday.
