CORNWALL PARK ELECTION.
I liave perused with interest the remarks of "A Thames Cockney" in reference to the recent Cornwall Park. School Committee election. As chairman of the meeting, I feel that his letter calls for a reply, and I desire- to make it quite clear that the election was conducted in a proper manner. Unfortunately! the arrangements made by the retiring chairman and secretary of the committee were inadequate for the large number of householders present, and owing to the shortage of ballot papers only 197 votes were recorded out of an attendance estimated at over 400. This naturally led to a little confusion, but, having in mind the fact that no roll of electors is used 'by school committees, before tlia ballot papers were distributed, I placed thos# present 011 their honour not to vote unlesl they were 'bona-fide electors in the school dia* trict. In fact, I mentioned this matter mor® than once, and I am confident that my injunc* tion was obeyed (by all present as honourably as by your correspondent "A Thames Cockney." J. S. HARDWICKE.
