LONDON'S LUXURY HOTELS.
A walk in the West End, especially in the neighbourhood of Park Lane just now, makes one wonder who is going to occupy all the hundreds of bedrooms which the five new hotels under construction will be able to offer when the scaffolding is down and the decorations are completed. Dorchester House, now the Dorchester Hotel, has 60 rooms on each of its numerous floors, and Lansdowne House, now being planned on a palatial scale, will have 350 bedrooms when its white and gold marble facade and its interior construction are accomplished facts. A huge catering firm has begun work on an establishment not far from the Marble Arch, where 2000 bedrooms will be available —not to mention four different types of restaurant and a modern store. The Curzon Hotel also is being reconstructed on modern lines, and at the corner of Berkeley Square and Bruton Street a site has been purchased on which "the finest hotel in London," to cost £3,000,000 will shortly be begun.
