TE AROHA NOTES.

MAKJORAM GOING WELL. - v ■■. GOLD DAY. WINS £1000 IN STAKES v Black Mairc is at present executing very satisfactory work on the local tracks, and can by no means be considered a back number. If he finds a suitable track in the near future he is sure to run a sterling race for his condition is decidedly solid. In recent months Miss Albyn has been somewhat disappointing, but she is now galloping more freely in her work, and may score before long. Mr. P. A. Finlay's rising two-year-old colt by Colossus is a nicely boned chestnut with two white hind legs. He is a racy type, with clean, flat shoulders, short top, well coupled up with good bone. He cannot be termed well grown,,

but in a less rigid climate than he has hitherto been used to he may develop into one of average size and conformaMarjoram, who was unsuccessful at Avondale and Te Kapa, is in great fettle, his track work being very commendable. He will next carry silk at Pukekohe next, week. An addition to the A. E. Cox team this week is the Musketoon —Miss Amans two-year-old filly. Lady. Musk. After being [ on the holiday list for the past two months she has thickened out considerably; but may-not be long in shaping into racing form. Arch Eagle, who is engaged in jumping events at the Ellerslie June meeting, is looking bright and well. The" Archiestown gelding is a good jumper with a fair amount of piace, and properly placed* may pay his way during the winter ;.month&

Gold Day, who during the season has won £1000 in stake money, is now enjoying a respite from work. He will be taken in hand again during the winter in view of early spring racing. Trainer J. F. Eva is now handling a rising two-year-old filly by Illumination —Poi, therefore a half sister to Gold Day. She is a nice type, showing quality, but at present is somewhat on the smal| side. With a good wintering she will doubtless develop satisfactorily. Antique's next run under colours will be in the Pukekohe Cup next "week. He is in. fine trim, quite up to the Te Rapa he won the Storey Memorial Cup, and although lib is now higher in the weights should run well. When King's Archer was put into work a few months ago, it was generally considered that he would take time before getting into racing condition. Since running at Te Rapa he has shown improvement, and as he will be kept in \7ork during the winter may make good next spring.
