ULSTER SOCIETY.
ADDEESS BY MR. ALEXANDER. The annual meeting of the Ulster Society of Auckland was held on Wednesday evening, the president, Mr. John Alexander, C.M.G., presiding. An address was given by the retiring president, in the-course of which he pointed out that the society, By its rules, was to be <ndn-seCtarian and non-political,; and its objects were to foster good rela-l tions between, the' Ulster people in the Auckland province, to keep up the links of friendship with those in the Old •Country, and to welcome Ulster people arriving in New Zealand. While it was the right, thing for Ulster people here to remember and act up ideals of Ulster, ", and never to compromise where their honour orthe interesteof the Empire were concerned, he said they „must, at the same time, cultivate a spirit of toler-: ;ance and ;;goodwill towards all the other citizens of the Empire. Addresses were also given by the Ven. Archdeacon Mac Murray and the Rev. John Laird. Mr. J. C. Entrican was re-elected secretary, Mr. Rainey assistant secretary, and Mr. G. Johnston treasurer. Vice-presi-dents and an executive committee were ejected. A musical and elocutionary programme and supper followed. A large ' number of Ulster people attended, and a considerable number have recently joined the society.
