LIGHTING ACCOUNTS.
[ Hf APIER ACCOUNTS NOT PAID. COMMISSIONERS CONCERNED. fßy Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Friday. The abnormal total of arrears in electric light accounts is causing the commissioners some concern. Altogether 1200 consumers are involved, the total of arrears being £13-50 for March alone. The position for April is even more serious. "The co rum is signers are willing to supervise and run the service if the people want it," eaid the chairman, Mr.' J. S. Barton, 53!., this morning, "if they don't, it is for them to say, and the easiest and surest way of saying so is to refuse or neglect to pay accounts. The state of our finances is such that there its no elasticity. To fiend out indi- j vidua 1 notices is out of the question, and I we will therefore give notice by adver- j ti«?ement of anting off the supply. We will give another week's supply to enable consumers to obtain candle 3 and j lamps if they wish."
