TITIRANGI MAIN HIGHWAY.
CONSTRUCTION IN CONCRETE,
CLOSE TENDERING
Tenders for the construction in concrete ol the Titiraiigi main highway closed yesterday. These have been considered by tlie W.iitemata County Coiui: cil and the New Lynn Borough' Council. Both local bodies have recommended to the Main Highways Board the acceptance of the lowest tender, that of Messrs'. G'rinter'Bros. If the board approves, the work will be proceeded with at once, poseibly from the Titirangi end. The whole job lias to be completed in 20 weeks. The tenders received were as follows: —

Moody . . 8,126 IS 3 13,251 10 9 The engineer's estimate for the New Lynn section of the work was £840-1, and for the Waitemata County's share £14,257. ■ The approved tender shows a reduction of £1712 4/3 on the estimated cost of the New Lynn section and £3003 0/9 on the Waitemata County length of roadway. Thirty-six applications were received for the positions of clerks of works. Final selection will be made next week.
