NO GRANT AS WAGES SUBSIDY.

PALMERSTON NORTH, this day.
"In view of all the circumstances connected with the flax industry the .board is of opinion that it would be inadvisable to-subsidise the wages of flaxmill workers at present."
This is the official advice which has been received by the Mayor of Shannon in reply to a deputation which .met: the Unemployment Board on January 8 to discuss the question of subsidising the wages of flaxworkers. ' '
