AUCKLAND CENTRE MEETS.

NEXT CARNIVAL FEBEUARY 17.

"Since our junior and intermediate swimmers are going South to compete in the New Zealand championships in fresh water, it is up to the centre to see that they get training in ' fresh water here before they leave," said Mr. D. B. Mulvihill, at a meeting of the Auckland Swimming Centre last night, at which the president, Mr; R. Sheffield, presided. The committee agreed, and decided on Mount Eden Baths as the place in which the swimmers may get the training required. It was also decided that this junior representative team of swimmers should leave Auckland next Sunday night for Ashburton, where the championships will be held on January 30 and 31, to enable them to have two days' training before the contests. The Auckland Centre's championship carnival will be held on February 17, and the officials will be the same for this as were appointed for the last. The following programme of events was decided upon:—Men: 100 yds, 440 yds, free style; 150 yds, backstroke; 220 yds, breaststroke; and diving. Women: 100 yds, 440 yds, free style; 100 yds, backstroke; and 220 yds, breaststroke. Handicap events: 66 2-3 yds men's open; 100 yds dual relay; 60yds, boys under 17; 50yds, girls under 17. Permission was granted three Auckland clubs to hold their respective carnivals on the following dates: Waitemata, February 10;, Ponsonby Club, January 24; .viount Eden Club, January 26.

Transfers were granted to N. C. Maddex (Parnell) to Grammar, and Miss J. Thompson (Parnell) to University.

MOUNT EDEN CLUB CARNIVAL.

The Mount Eden Amateur Swimming' Club will hold its first carnival of ■ the season at the Mount Eden baths next Monday evening, when the following programme of: events will be decided: 66 2-3 yards inter-club handicap, 100 yards dual relay handicap, 150 yards breaststroke handicap, 00 2-3 yurds ladies' handicap, 50 yards novice handicap, 220 yards club handicap. 50 yards boys' handicap, 50 yards girls' handicap, novelty events.
