v CtTP AND STEWARDS'.

RECENT FORM' REVIEWED.

The weights for the first day of the Takapuna. summer meeting ' have been issued by Mr. F. McManemin and most interest will centre in the Takapuna,.Cup and Stewards' Handicap.

The Takapuna Cup,

Cori™ax is top-weight in the Takapuna Cup with 9.1, or a etone more than he ran second with in the A.R.C. Handicap, one mile and a half, and 91b more than he carried when he won the Grandstand Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Ellerslie. He was in receipt of 61b from In the Shade in the former event and now has to give him 61b. Corihax lias got all he is entitled to. In the Shade, with 8-9, would only need to be at his best, despite his failures at Ellerslie, to have, a good chanre, for he ran third in the New Zealand Cup "with 8.2 .and won the Fendalton Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Riccarton, with S.ll. He is racing.at Wellington, and perhaps that meeting "will, give a better line to his form. Motere (7.12) finished second m the Auckland Cup with 7.0, but\vas. given first ;place, oAving to Gay Crest, Avho won, interfering with him. With 8.0 in the A.R.C. Handicap he failed badly., Maori Boy (7.10) raced fairly well at the Auckland meeting, but failed in the Thames.Cup. He needs the going on the soft side to show his best. Eager Rose (7.0) was second in the Alison Cupy one . mile three furlongs and 4Q yards, at Takapuna in the spring with 7.8, and since, .jvon the Christmas Handicap, one mile, with 8.0 at Ellerslie. She failed to get>intb the money in both the Summer Cup with. 8.1 and the Grandstand Handicap with 7-11. However, she has gping.Vell at EHerslie, and promises, to again give , a good * account of herself. Mosque won,the Summer Clip with 7.0, leading-froiri start to finish, funning the distance in record/time .for the' course. With. 7.8! m the TakapunA Cup "he will Itave to be considered. ;■..'• Royal Doulton (T. 6): won the St. Andrew's Handicap, nine .'furlongs,, at the last ' Takapuna fixture, but" since then failed at Auckland::" The distance may be too far for 'Gold-Money. but Antique (7.5), on his' performance in the Goldfields Clip, wiii..;hav6 a chance. Gay Cockade (7.2) ' . aiso/kppeala on his : running at. Auckland, aid -Gloptpn and Sir Mond' may be the best , , of the others. If at her best she should go well. Leitrim (8.5) won the Cheltenham Handicap, six furlongs, with 8.1 at Takapuna, and finished second to Paganelli With 8.2 in., the Electric Handicap at JEllerslie. He will also have to be con- ° sidered. Refresher (8.3) rari two" good races at Ellerslie over a mile anil seven fiirlonge respectively, and he is not badly . treated with his present impost. White. Wings (8.0) beat Pagafielli at a diffefericie .of 101b and Leitrim at a difference of 81b at the last TatapUria meeting and" is now receving 161b off Paganelli and 51b off Leitrim. She will again be hard to beat if produced in the same form. Royil Ruler (7.8) got back to ,th"e winning list at Thames and may go on with it. In this .- , event Gay Cockade meets Corinax on 91b better terms and has an advantage of 41b ' : over Lil'cy ißosei arid at the difference he is likely toaccbunt for both of them.. EAGER ROSE'S PROSPECTS. The Takapuna Cup candidate Eager Rose has been responsible for several good track gallops recently and her effort jgjSjj over a.round on the No. 1 grass last Saturday morning was very impressive. ''At the Takapuna spring meeting Eager Rose carried 7.8 and ran second to Sargon :>. in the Alison, Cup and also finished third C to Royal Doulton and Mosque in the St Andrew's Handicap at the same meeting , with 8.0 on her back. ,Since then, at,the Auckland summer meeting, she scored an • easy win.in.the Christmas Handicap, one mile, and, handicapped at 7.9 in the Takapuna Cup, hep prospects are sure to appeal.
